150lb Mono Crimps

#1 Post by marshpike »

I have received crimps for 150lb mono (rubbing trace) my original crimping pliers (Fox) won't crimp these correctly, is it safe just to flatten them with a set of pliers?

I also have double barrel crimps for 150lb wire, same applies.

Appreciate any help.

150lb mono and crimps

#2 Post by bigkev »

Hey there
You dont really need to crimp the mono
The following knot is excellent for heavy mono

Thanks to Sean_P for this one, changed my traces.
I occasionally still crimp the tag end, but the knot is more than enough

For crimping advice , check this

Hope it helps

If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

I have used that knot for over 25 years....it has never failed me once, I tie almost everything with it....including thick heavy wire..then I use a crimp, not for strength but to cover the wire ends.

Its great for anything but best of all for attaching hooks (of any size)

Good set of photos Ronald...nice one.

Tom.
