Tried various areas of both piers about two weeks ago, no joy was only there for a few hours mind you.

Saw a big one under the rock last week at the end of the pier....i was gutted a few mac and as i wash them, one of the big conger suddently lunge to grab the mac from my hand ,luckyly it just grab the mac,the width of the head estimately 5-6 inch...enuff to take my full hand....a week before that one of the guys got his line snap at the same area....near the light house....at the end of the pier....i suspect there are many big one arround....and can be simply lure out from their hole by burleying with mack....

hey nialler ive had a conger of howth before its quick snaggy in the rocks so bring lots of conger gear if u walk 2 the east pier, walk down as far as the lighthouse, fish 2 the left of it wit a rope or hand line wit a mack head, they live in around the rocks and u can see them, look for a a nice big hole among the rocks less chance of gettin snagged by those congers and make sure u can c ur bait (so u can c the conger picking it up) den pull it up wit all ur muscle :D lost a 25 pound conger just the other week ther :( dont forget 2 ground bait the hole ur puttin the mack head down so chances are u get more den 1 conger  thers loads of congers in those rocks i alway see em and teh odd time get 1, i thought conger wer territorily (spelt tht wrong) but they all live amongst each other weird

with a rope? hardly angling though is it? more like longlining. would it not be worth trying a rod and heavy line?
