friday
arrived in Courtown around 7pm, after a quick feeding we (myself and nige) met up with teacher and off to a near beach for a few hours, nige got his first smoothie(common) on i think first cast, second cast was a pup tope, third cast was a starry smut and fourth cast was a nice sized dab ( now thats what fishing is all about, teacher was bringing in a few smuts and dogs as well, all the while i was trying to get a fish
i moved position ( in between the two lads) and finally pulled out a flounder.. that saved me from an embarrassing blank
Saturday
myself and teacher went down to Courtown pier for a couple of hours to see if we could lad a few species, i pulled out a pup smut (common) and teacher pulled out a nice sized dab, nige arrived down towards the end of the session and poached a starry smut pup on my spinning rod
finished up there and went for food...
met up with teacher and went on the hunt for a few more rag worms before our trip down to Rosslare, rag acquired (and enough lead to sink a small boat) we headed off..
on arrival we say a car that looked very familiar (last time i saw it it had a flat tyre in Clonea), gathered all the bags and trekked to the mark and met Boycie and fintan packing up (apparently they were there 6 hours and only had a few dogs and no smuts, wasn't looking good for us
after they left it was time for some serious fishing ( the whole reason for the weekend) on second cast teacher pulled out a nice 6 lbs common smoothie, soon after i pulled out a nice little 5.5lbs and the fish kept coming in
photos below and i'm sure teacher will up load a few as well
Sunday(today)
went down to courtown pier again to see what was about.. but a strong S/E wind made it hard.. and so did a flippin jet skier
only fished for a short while, teacher joined us for the last bit.. nothing much played ball except one little freshwater eel (species 26 for me)
then a long trek back home...
