hows the fishing castlegregory/dingle area ?

I'll be heading down to castlegregory for a week from next weekend ,and i'm just wondering how the fishing is at the moment also if any kind souls would give me a few pointers on were to fish for rays around the castlegregory area as I'll be there with the missus and time will be at a premium ,also might try to get a wrasse session around dingle . pm's will do fine if you dont want to make them public, and any marks given will go to the grave with me :lol:

Hiya Ronald,
I was down there for the first 2 weeks of July. Here's the full report:

In all, we tried for ray 5 times - once at The Trench, in which we blanked and then 4 times at Dingle Lighthouse, which resulted in a total of 22 Thornbacks to just under 10lb.

i always find castlegregory can be a real on/off kind of place, its always hard to know how its gonna fish. should be worth a chuck though and maybe a bit of spinning around the back and the point if theres any surf for a bass

Thanks for that guys ,It looks like I'll have to travel a bit then ,maybe try for some big wrasse instead around the dingle area .

ronald im just back from dingle in the last hour lol. was down for a week. stayed in SPA last night fished incoming tide and out didnt even get a bite. stripped within 5 mins. if its wrasse and pollock ur after we fished fahan up slea head i think its called under the bee hives car park on wed now this was scary climb down but im sure theres easy ways in fact the guy who owns the house at the bee hives told us of 2 better spots and more easy and had at least 40 wrasse to 4lb barely any under 3lb and a 4lb pollock on a pollock bandit first cast. the wrasse wiped us out fo bait, we used hardback live which u can get in dingle harbour easily and worms. ended up on the power bait ive never caught anything on and every cast within 5 seconds wrasse on,, used 2 packs up crab and ragworm so stock up on them as ull be outa bait in an hour id say.
