Killiney, Co Dublin

#1 Post by bovenip »

People: Just me

Duration: 2 hours

Tide: Rising

Weather: Overcast, muggy, slight NE wind

Bait: Lures

Results: 1 bass

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: After Gazo's recent success with bass in Killiney, I thought I'd give it a quick visit before the Copa America Final (its only a 8 minute drive from my house so its amazing I've never tried it before). I don't know the area well, so just headed for the northen corner of the beach and fished beyond the boulders on the first rock after the changing rooms. The first few casts resulted in a repeated follow from a bass and by the 5th or 6th cast I hooked into the fish below. Despite a few more follows later, that was the last fish of the night, but I'm far from disappointed!

Nice one bovenip! What type of lures were you using? And which was the successful one? Cheers!

There were a lot of sea trout in the area when I got there, but I didn't notice any after the first half hour (though the sea got a lot rougher so maybe I didn't notice them). Most of them would have been under half a pound but there was one that would have been maybe 2lb.

The lure that caught was a very light silver sandeel imitation (sorry - not sure of the brand) that I retrieved as fast as I could just under the surface of the water.
