Fish from the concrete area and rocks on the right edge of the harbour. There is a gate which is usually open during the day and sometimes locked at night.

Rocks behind harbour

I'm just getting in to fishing and brought a friend along, he's never fished in NI but being from the Faroe Islands he's seen a fish or two in his life.

After not getting a bite further up the coast (the crop of white rock with a car park and a few wee bungalows just a few mile below Waterfoot) we fished from 11:00-1:15am and caught two very small codling and 5 doggies. Both our first dog fish and I have the burn marks on my arm to prove it. All returned safe and well. Good spot to ensure a nice few dogs to brighten up any poor fishing day. Our spot was through the hole in the wall and from the rocks on the other side.

I didn't see any

I didn't see any but then I wasn't looking for any signs so they might have been there.

A couple of locals popped their heads over the walls and chatted and none of them mentioned it either.

Is this a common thing around the coast? I really have only started fishing about a month.

you can fish glenarm breakwater and yes doggies are the main catch for there. i will still catch pollock, coalies and flatties there but they never seem to be any size to them.
