Forget your expensive over rated plugs. A bundle of Kilty lures, Abu Rockets and Jensen Tobies will do the job for you. Thats all we used here http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... hp?t=11899 although Alan had some success with a bubble float, 5 foot trace to a size 2 hook and one of the really small Storm Sandeel imitations.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

Plugs

As far as I can see different lures work better in different places.

I use a Bomber jointed plug around Killiney. It outfishes every other lure. On days where other anglers have been present I have always caught more fish.

Around Ardmore the Kilty is the best lure.

Off the boat I find a Rapala Sliver is the best in deeper water.

I have had no success with poppers even though I have so many that I could sell them. Yet some of the UK anglers seem to do very well on them.

Like fly fishing it pays to have a few different lures and if one does not work then try another.

Would the Bombers be similar to the Rebel plugs? Also what pattern do you find best?

If you have a look at my gallery there is a picture of the plug hanging from the mouth of one of the bass. This colour is also the most productive.

Thanks for that Stan. Looks identical to a Rebel - and I've found that colour very effective. Also found a few others patterns do the business, Will stick them up on my gallery during the week so that you can have a gander.
