People:me

Duration:5pm to 9.30pm

Tide:rising

Weather:cloudy

Bait:mac

Rigs:conger gear and macky traces

Results:2 congers and a couple of macs

Catch and Release:: Yes and No

Report:last minute decsion to head down to the local and it payed off too which was a bonus. started by putting a rod in for the conger then spin for the macs. an hours into fishing and i got my first run on the conger rod struck it and it was solid for about 10mins then it started to come in. a conger of what we all though was 10lb but was only 7lb 7oz but it also came in with half the sea bed too. an hour after high water came the last eel which was 5lb dead and that was it really so i think i need to get down again and again and again

Great photo's Jonny G. 8) Where abouts in the harbour do you recommend fishing for the congers?

Is there still mackeral being caught in numbers down your way at the moment? I wouldn't mind giving it a throw sometime soon.

My young lad is mad keen to get the conger gear out again after catching his first one last year.

That would be great Jonny, I'm looking forward to it. I normally use a bullet for them but I see in the picture you use a boat rod. Which do you find does a better job? A beach rod or Boat rod? I also have a Penn formula 24kg which needs broken in as I've never used it yet.

Maybe some evening next week if it suits
