People: Me, Wife and Kids

Duration: 19.30-10.00 ish

Tide: dropping to low

Weather: WSW, light rain at times

Bait: razor

Rigs: 2 hooks

Results: 1 dab

Catch and Release:: No

Report: Decided I had to go out and dragged the rest with me all togged out in their waterproofs. The kids enjoyed themselves practicing casting, but too much weed in water to be practical for them.
Setup on the lhs of the beach and decided to take PeteKD's advice and try with razor for bait. I found longer casting lengthened the time before I had too much weed on the line, but there was a lot in the water so it hampered my efforts somewhat.
Hauling in one huge lump of weed, I saw a flash of something moving amongst it and it turned out to be a dab. It was foul hooked, not sure if I caught it dragging across the sand, or if it was hooked whilst eating my bait - I suspect the latter as it hooked underneath. Anyway, it was a bit damaged so it'll be lunch for my wife today.
Nice that I can combine fishing and the kids anyway, just wish the weather and weed had been a bit nicer.

The weed lately is unreal. Went out this morning. I haven't been fishing from the shore since before the bass ban. The beach I went to was plagued with weed. I didn't even bother wetting a line. This is exactly the same as it was in April & May. Normally it only lasts a few weeks - never seen it last this long.
