Back from 10 days in France, well, almost!

Paid Ryanair sixty EURO for the priviledge of their transporting a travel rod there, on account it no longer fits in the smaller suitcases their 15 kilo limit imposes (only discovered this in Shannon airport carpark!) and... yes, you guessed it, they lost it. Not only that but 10 days later they have yet to contact me in any way shape or form to explain anything... so watch this space for a view of customer services in the airline industry!

Anyhow, weather was hot and sunny after five days of storms and rain :shock: phew! and did buy a telepscopic thing (rod would be too kind) for a few EURO and put it to work one evening as the sun dropped for an hour. Hooked an octopus - bait robbings gits - on the groynes that are used to hold the sand in small bays in the area. Severe lateral current here and down towards Sete, along a massive beach called the lido. Most people fish for flatties with long rods, tiny hooks and ragworm.

Saw a really clever way of collecting bait, will pop a description up later.

Had lots of small silver fish pop out of the surface (small bream by the look of them) but could not find the culprit despite desperate attempts at lure fishing. Telescopic thing was quiver tipped, rushed purchase with two small kids in tow etc. Good tackle shop in Grau D'Adge in the little aquare, lots of decent mullet to 2 kilos on the shore there under the restaurants and spotted some nice bream and a decent sized conger too.

Fishing trips from there are early morning or later afternoon/evening, enough said. Anything the size of a mackerel whips them into delight - enough said. Reckon the rocks near the lighthouse are worth a trip...

Well, its my first shore caught octopus (you get them in Clew Bay in the later summer on the bottom hook of baited mackerel feathers in really deep water say under the cliffs at Clare Island)....

I had the misfortune of flying with those scumbags 6 times in March. Best take of time was 50 minutes late, all the rest more than an hour!

I got my cheque from Ryanair EUR 36, i.e. less than the cost of the fee for losing the luggage in the first place. So I am out the EUR 100 for the rod and EUR 24 for the difference between the fee and the refund.

The man knows how to make money - even on lost luggage! :shock: :wink: I think the message is clear... fly with someone else.

Irish Ferries have a shiny new ship starting on the Rosslare-Cherbourg/Roscoff routes next month. Bring all the fishing gear you want. Few drinks in the bar, nice meal, relax in your own cabin with TV, handle your own luggage. That's the way I'll be going.

100 euro would be worth a go in the small claims court, just about. would they not be fully liable for the cost of the item?

you get what you pay for with them in fairness, i had to fly abroad last year on business, which one was it now rome, prague, croatia , one of them anyway. rynair was €90 direct. the other airlines were €500 up.

service is crap but its hard to beat the prices
