It might sound daft but what is the best way to put new line onto a f/s, it always looks a bit loose when i try.
when i snag it bites into the line on the spool.
Any tips

This is how i usually do...
Fix your reel to the rod,use any short two piece rod that u can find,and you gonna need the bottom parts of the rod,not the one whole length of the rod.
Run the end line from your new spool through the stripper guide/bottom end ring,and tie it to the arbor of your reel spool.
Fill a water bout 1/2 of bucket,dump the new spool of line in that bucket.Hold the rods using ur right hand (consider ur using ur left hand to crank)in between the reel and the stripper guide,using the same hand,pinch ur line with enuff tension to make it tight on the spool,but not too tight.Use ur left hand to crank the reel,not too slow and not too fast,just enuff so that the spool in the bucket spin in vertical position so the line wont get too much twist.
