Portrush, Co Antrim 17 June

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

b]People[/b]:Sean, Conor C and me

Duration: 18.30 - 22.45

Tide: HT @ 20.00

Weather: Warm and relatively calm

Bait: Rag, mack, lures and feathers

Rigs: 2 hook flappers and conger gear

Results: 36 wrasse between us - the star of the show was Conor C with a Wrasse at 3lb - pic to follow

Report:

We headed up to Portrush for an evening session.

Wrasse were the main target and we managed a shed load of them - all caught at our feet with rag.

Tackle loss was heavy as we fished a rough ground mark and the tidal rip was absurd - I couldn't get to the bottom with 8oz of lead 10 yards out from the edge - very frustrating....

No fish were taken on feathers or lures which was surprising but we put this down to the tidal rip...

Conor C stole the show with a 3lb wrasse landed on a very light spinning rod and 15lb line - pic to follow.

All ballans - great scrappers.

We fished Ramore Head - dodgy spot to get to and you really need to keep an eye on the swells - they can be very deceiving....
