People:me

Duration:1130-1900

Tide:hw @1145

Weather:f3/4 w/nw with intermittent sunshine

Bait:fly

Rigs:

Results:28 pollack between 1/2 and 5 1/2 lbs, 1 coalie and 2 mackeral

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:

had been hoping all week to get out for some mullet but the wind was in the one direction which made this impossible so had to revert to plan "b" which was to get some pollack.. arrived at the mark and the sea was perfect. set up with a chartreause and blue DNA baitfish, 3rd cast and had my first pollack of about half a pound. strangly bar one missed take i hadnt a touch for the next hour, then as if some one flicked a switch to pollack came on the feed big time, nearly every cast for 2 1/2 hours had either a follow, a missed take or a hook up. most of the pollack were in the 1-2 lb range but i also had 3 3+lb fish, a 4 1/2 lb and a 5 1/2 lb which put up a great fight, taking about 15 yards of line on its first run...
also had a small coalie and the 2 mackeral during this period.both were my first of the respective species this year.

as the tide emptied i decided to try and acomplish phase 2 of the plan and get a bass. lw was at 6 ish which was perfect for this particular mark.arrived to see that with the tide quite small there wasnt a huge amount of exposed rock and alot of the gullies were filled in. not ideal but still gave it a try.fished for about an hour during which i missed 2 bass, one took the fly but didnt get hooked and the other boiled just behind it. hopefully i'll get them tomorro.

regards neil

Brilliant to hear of so many coming on the fly in one session, wished our fishing was as good here in Wales.
