Has anyone got one of these reels? It has a line counter on it, are they any good for the money. I can get one for under £30.

Its just to use on a spare rod for friends when they are out on the boat.

Cheers,
Trev

Hi Coaster,

I got the magda reel today in the post. It appears that the counter works by counting the revolutions of the spool. It is more accurate the more line is on the spool. Therefore it appears that the more line you let out the less accurate the reading will be. But I suppose its not bad anyway to give an approximate reading. The gears and housing seem fine for a reel of this price. I will be giving it a good blatter on Thursday night as I'm heading out on the boat after work, will know more then.

Cheers,
Trev

Hi Coaster,

I gave the Magda a blast last night. Was fishing in around 50ft of water. I compared the reading given by the Magda counter to the depth displayed by the fish finder and it was spot on, was pleasantly surprised. The reel was grand (although was just hitting Mackerel last night). For the price I am well happy with it.

Cheers,
Trev

Hi lads i got a magda last year for some boat fishing cost €35 never got to use it from a boat because my mate sold his boat,
but one time i was lucky to have it in the van when i was doing a bit of mackerel bashing the fixed spool reel that i was useing gave up after a year of savage fishing, so i tried the magda from the cliff it worked great hauling 5 at a time with ease this is its second year used for mackerel and the only thing thats happend is the level wind sticks now and then, i will buy another as soon as this one packs up just for that job, i must try it next time i go for conger.
