Hi all,

brillant site really useful

but I am in need of help...

I am new to shore fishing and i want to buy a light surf rod for fishing for pollack, bass, wrasse etc.. something that i can use for spinning, float, lures, but also for a little fishing from the beach. I have done a bit of searching on the forums and I am still none the wiser..

I was wondering if online is best to buy from or is there any good local tackle shops in Northern ireland?

I read the review in total sea fishing a couple of months back and liked the look of the Masterline tideline twin tip and the Shakespeare salt flattie.

I would like the rod to be able to take both fixed and mutliplier as ihave only ever used fixed and want to try a mutliplier reel.

Any advice would be gratefully taken on this matter

It'd be a pretty boring place if people couldn't ask questions :D

I'm not familiar with either of those rods, but I'd buy from a walk-in tackle shop the first time out, rather than online. You should be able to get some good advice and be able to hold the rods, see how they feel in terms of weight, compare them with each other, try different reels on them, etc. etc.

Before you buy, you might want to come back here and look for more opinions ...

Hopefully someone else will be able to advise on the rods you've already mentioned

have a shakspeare odessa bass 11-6" will do for alot of different situations but is a bit stiff for spinning takes a fixed spool or multi :?

Check out the Greys BZE it comes in two weights; 1 to 3oz and 3 to 5oz. Both rods are at the top end of your price range but if you do a site search you should get some peoples opinions of them.
