dublin-fresh water eels

i was wondering is their any spots in dublin were u can catch silver eels?

i have being told by a man down the road from me that u can catch them in graystones harbour! (literally in the harbour) he told me if i stick ragworm on nd cast it between two boats or just drop it off the edge off the harbour i will catch one! is this true? and what rigs and hook sizes should i use??

I had one on Greystones North beach near the small stream under the arch, was only small though.

i've had doubles of em inside grey harbour. fishin was hectic too. they seem to like the place! calm overcast day. size 2's long snoods and rag n crab.

if you fish to the right hand side of blackrock baths you will get a few best bet is to dig a few lug on low water and wait for the flood two hours before high water is best and just lob it out you will also get a good few flats there me and me mates have had a few decent ones from the spot. ive also heard of a few bass getting caught there but ive never caught one from there myself

by the way where can you get crab around dublin??? and would you use swivels for them 2?? they could be like conger and destroy ur line if u dont use a swivel :shock:

unless u use 200 lb mono they will trash your rigs even with swivels :D
bray harbour has a good few fish the main wall inside the harbour mac or squid is the best bait use size 2 hooks and little baits as they have small mouths :)

Presume high tide is the best time to fish from here? Haven't fished it in years but do remember some good sized flounder when fishing on the inside from the older pier. Plan give it a go early in the morning in the next month as have never caught an eel :o

ive actually fished bray a few times and every time i fished the place i always blanked!!! i never knew u cud catch eels in the harbour!!! is the main wall the wall wich every1 fishes??

no the one everone fishes faces dublin the main one faces out to sea had a good size eel in laytown last night and nothin else :x the surf was great on friday and dissapeared yesterday BUMMER!!!!!! if u want to catch an eel fish inside the main wall in close dont think the tide would be to important once u had more than a few feet of water u could use a bubble float to keep the bait up off the bottom a bit ,as the harbour has lots of crab in it bray always fishes better from dusk into darkness on a rising tide :!:

they dont take long to find the bait but the crabs are quick to :shock: after a few minutes check your bait no point in fishing with an empty hook a bit of ground bait will help chop up a bit of mac realy small and use a little bit every 10 or 15 min if eels are in the harbour they will find you :lol: :lol:fish afoot or two out from the wall for best results
