top loading spool

#1 Post by mann »

again as i dip into this deep pool of knowledge i feel :? and  I'm having a prob loading my penn surfmaster 750 spare spool it's top loading and seems the bailarm is not going down the full distance to fill the bottom of the spool,
i have it half filled at the mo and it's coneing down to the reel,
never noticed when i filled the other spool with braid but had a look now and it dont look as bad but its slightly top loaded,
is there any way i can sort this lads as i got a trip planned tomorrow and dont want to have half filled spools and the problems that go with it,
many thanks.

When this happens with the shimanos the washer underneath the spool ( on the reel itself ) is uneven. if there are 2 washers take one of them out. otherwise just try to get the washer on straight again

some reels come with a spare washer to lift the spool a bit higher look in the reel box if not get a small washer and fit it under the spool some times you need two to fix the problem depending how thick the washer is
hope this helps

washers

#5 Post by mann »

cheers lads i will try a washer it sounds like it will do the biz, i never had time to check your answers till now due to naerly running out of diesel in kilkee friday night,
i asked a friend that lives there if there was anywhere near kilkee to get diesel he said ya ennis, every other place closed before 11pm and the one in kilrush opens at 8am, i was gutted i needed to be packed and ready to go to rosslare at 10am sat for a match,
i was amazed to find that when i set up on the beach that i managed to pack everything i needed bar the baiting needle an it only took 25 minutes, So be warned if you go around that area fill up before you go fishing not after, the mackeral i needed for bait was scarce i only got 2 before it got dark, oh about the reel never got time to sort it had to buy the Hi speed abu in waterford nice reel, thanks again lads
