Bait:spinners feathers and mac heads

Rigs:conger traces

Results:18 mac and 4 conger

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:had fun playing beat the seal to the shore with the mackerel (us 18, seal 7 )then swapped to wire traces and had fun with the conger they came up so close dennis was able to stroke em (yes he,s stone mad

)also had some big lobster in on the action having a row with the conger over mac heads and some crabs (of course!!)must admitt it was touch and go at one stage as dennis and the big conger had a good row no dennis didnt slip in but the conger soaked him well

half way out the west u cant miss it just look for a very fat seal

have to say that was prob one of the best fishing sessions ever , the craic was amazing and i realised i have no friends as all ran away wheni needed a hand unhooking the 2 hooks from the biggest conger,,,(one hook was from 5 mins earlier when he managed to snap me of)

nice seein a few congers ther lads ill prob go out ther myself durin the week!! is the mark snaggy by any chance??

not snaggy past the bottom of the wall but the wall is where the conger live

we could see the conger taking the mac heads, boat rod and wire traces required :!:and BIG hooks

Excellent looking fishing...

I've often thought of fishing the length of that pier along the back with lures for Pollock - any sign of any pollock to the lures or hanging round the mackeral baits?

would i get away with a pike rod and 50lb braid, or possibly a beachcaster with the same?

well for general conger fishing the 50 lb braid part is fine but no way could you use a pike rod unless you were very experienced. a beachcaster would be fine i suppose.

cheers mate. it's a solid hollow glass rod with plenty of backbone to it so it should handle them.
