Missy Moo, Bangor, 30th May 07

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Myself, Livid, Davy Mac, Dogfish Dave, Rusty, Heasley, Big Tom, John, and 2 others.

Duration: 6pm - 11pm

Tide: Big n Wet

Weather: Not too bad.

Bait: Vietnamese Sandeel, Mackeral, Party Squid

Rigs: Flowing Traces, Feathers, Jellyworms, Conger Setups.

Results: Mackeral, Pollack, Coalfish, Codling, Ling, Whiting, L.S. Dogfish, Huss.

Report: The return of the Wednesday club started off quite Slowly with a few Moves around the Island first we drifted over the Reef just on the Carrick side of the back of Copeland where we managed a few small Coalies.

Next was a move to the Sand where a few Coalies, a Couple of Dogs, and a whiting were caught, Next was a move back round the Islands, after a few drifts with Limited Success we ended up Back on the Carrick side of the Islands where after a few Hecktick Drifts (producing Codling, Coalies, Macks, Ling and Pollack) we decided we'd anchor.

A Couple of Dogfish arrived to baits first, when Dogfish Dave Hooked into something a Bit more substancial after carelyfully playing it arrived at the Surface it was a BIG Huss it thrashed on the surface but in Typical Huss fashion it dropped the bait. Now this is where it got interesting, after a lot of yelling and a lot of laughing from the rest of us, Dave got his bait back in the water he got a Bite he described as '2 Taps' and gave it some Line, about 30 seconds Dave was back into something Substancial and this time made sure the Hook was Set well, 2 minutes later a 13lb11oz Bull Huss Writhed on the deck of the Missy Moo.... We all knew Dogfish Dave deserved it.... and he manages, yet again, to live up to his name.

Cracking fish ,sounds like you guys had a good wee session .
To give people an idea of the size of dogfish davy ,look at the size of the boat rods in the background compared to him ,these rods are only 6 foot
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
