Portally is a grand spot if the timing is right.... Holds Dogs, Conger, Wrasse, Pollock and Ive seen Mullet and also Bass floating around the coves... Flats can be got on the sandbanks between rocky territory..Plaice namely and Flounder 2... Baits to use would be Rag & Mackeral.... Feathers will get you your pollock handy enough here, Right at your feet sometimes too (Literally)... Hope this helps man

Portally Cove.
This mark in my opinion has potential. Ive caught or seen wrasse, dogfish, pollock, mackerel caught here. Spinners result in pollock and mackerel, well dogfish will eat most things,I picked up a few on Sandeel. I have seen a small wrasse caught on white rag here, all on the furthest out of the inner marks, if that makes sense.Basically where you go on up the path over the hill, the rocks there before you take that path.

On the "point" we will say if you travel past these marks up over a slight hill and down to the left, you reach a point. I have seen a nice pollock again caught here on feathers. It was a nice size, it was actually foul hooked and was an unreal fight. Was literally like the hook was caught in a rock or weed. We were just pulling for a break to get the line back, and slowly it gave, as if it was hooked in weed, reeled in a nice sized pollock.
One thing I will say is that the grass can be very slippy when the dew falls so be careful when walking the path etc. And watch the rod tip with the ditch, when walking out the path at the start.Hasnt happened me, but could easily happen someone.
Im sure there are other species here also, but as im a novice I dont tend to be very knowledgeable, so tend to try keep it simple, use spinners or feathers, or sandeel and mackerel. Its a nice little cove, and doesnt tend to be too busy, not like the flat rocks when the mackerel are in!

Sorry cant be of more help but in my opinion its definitely worth a go, but as was said, its rough ground to be prepared. I reckon a float rig here would work well, keeping the trace off the ground, but the bait low enough for fish to come out from the rocks etc.

I've fished there several times and had great fun with pollack on a deep fished jellyworm. The guys in the tackle shop on the tramore road, waterford told me that mark no. 9 is generally the best. Follow the path up and over the hill. About 400 yards and down where the rope is attached to the rocks. Never caught a bass there though!!!!! L.O.L.
