Im mad to have a go for some smooth hounds from the shore i know there is some spots in wexford and was just wondering is there any places fishing good at the moment, also whats the best bait to use and tides ect.

id try rosslare point or morriscastle... fish baits, crab and rag work well

Was thinking of heading down next weekend maybe the 3rd nice tide and its a bank holiday monday so its perfect :lol: is it better in darkness? coz hight tide bout 7 or 8 in the evening!

James hi.. No hounds any size about yet... Have tried a number of different beaches from clones back down to Rosslare... Morriscastle and tinaberna fished really well for us last year with quantitys of fish caught and size.. Mostly the starry variety showing up... If its your first time out you are in for a treat cause these lads pull like hell :lol: CRAB is a must as hounds predominantly feed on them, by far the most succesful bait... Fished morriscastle last night but only got immature fish...

Really looking forward to getting one, :lol: im going to go straight up to wexford when i get my hands on some crab!! any chance you could let me no when the bigger fish show up. Looking forward to hooking a fish no wait SHARK that will bent my apollo :D

No worries James, am a waterford man like your self but have moved up this way... Pound for pound they are the hardest fighting fish I know.. If you have two rods you can have a crack at TOPE at most of those beaches.. Rosslare is difficult due to the run of tide so its low or high water, with teh top of the tide fishing well for hounds.. On morriscastle I found the tide just needs to be running for the hounds to show up... Morrsicastle is the WAY TO GO.... Bring coffee as if you want to find them it will be an all nighter... Keep ye posted..

Sound will do man.. Hope to get out on rosslare during the week see if there are any tope about at all... Will put the hound rod out for sure!!! All work and no fish makes pat a lunatic...
