Was down at 5 Mile today. Wind was strong and tide running south.

Had 2 flounders on my last cast. (Only fished for an hour). Both were caught 20 yards out in small pieces of crab.

These beaches dont fish so well in daylight................!!!

At Kilcoole weekend before last. Could only catch a few small whiting.

Was at same place weekend before that as well. Didn't catch anything but there were lots of seagulls diving close in.

I saw that myself a few times around these beaches alright.
Is Kilcoole just a bit further down than Newcastle? It's been a while since i've been down there!

And what sort of bait were the whiting taking?

Kilcoole is about 2 or 3 miles further north than newcastle.

The whiting were taking rag and sandeel. They were very small but better than catching nothing.
