how r yis lads? im looking at getting an anchor for those boats u can hire from bullock harbour cause u either dont get an anchor or the 1 u get cant hold u in position unless it gets snagged.
so im just wondering what style of anchor and weight wud i need for around that area

ideally you should have 2 anchors.
i use a grapnel home made with 9mm round mild steel for the rough ground. and i use a danford anchor for the sand.i also Carry a 5kg foldable breakout as a spare. don't forget your anchor is only as good as the chain you connect it to. you will need at least 10 ft of 5mm chain. you could also need 25 fathoms/150ft of rope some times more. some ground up to 140 ft deep. back to the question anchor type i would recommend the foldable type but you should always set it up for a breakout. hope this helps. BTW the whole idea of an anchor is for it to snag.

As a general rule, u need one times the length of the boat in anchor chain and six times the depth of water u intend 2 be in for a length of rope. a good general purpose anchor is the delta range, size will depend on the type of boat u r using but it's always better to be safe than sorry, so go more. always remember to pay out plenty of rope to set the anchor correctly. If u r not sure that the anchor is set, put the engine into reverse and apply half throttle to set the anchor. If the boat still moves after this, then either u haven't enough rope paid out or the anchor isn't big enough.

general purpose delta range does not specify 1 anchor.the anchor you are probably talking about is the plough which i would not recommend for the grounds mentioned as i have quite some experience of the area and as far as i can remember in all of the boats i have fished from i cant ever recall having to pay out 600ft of rope in 100ft of water. the type of boat he would most likely be using is a 16ft longliner.
