King Rag?

#1 Post by PaddyB »

I have recently got back into Angling after about a 15 year absence!

I was out digging for Rag and Lug along on the shores of the foyle on Saturday late afternoon. When I was younger I always dug down around Movile, and was used getting Rag around 2 to 5 inches. However I was digging further down the road towards derry and was disapointed by the size of Rag that I was getting, untill completely out of the blue, I dug up a rag that was easily over a foot long and between 1/4" to 1/2" diameter! It was the biggest rag I have ever seen!
Could it have been a king rag? I thought you didnt get them in Ireland?

Yes that was a king rag, there are some big beds of king rag across the foyle estuary on the NI side, and some places where they are dug commercially.
There are hundreds of places where you can dig the king rag in Ireland, but they are not plentiful.
World Champion Gold Medals are the new Black!!!
