Predator Charters

Going out with Predator charters in June but was hoping to have a look at some reports to get the juices flowing but can't seem to find any. How come?

Have seen a few reports on SAI - do a search on "Predator", or "Hamish" - Have a look at : http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... 8&start=20

Have heard verbal reports also - but nothing I could vouch for so I'll leave it with your good self to make up your own mind. Pop Drew a PM and see what he reckons, he may know more.

My opinion on charters is that different people have different opinions of the same skipper. Try a few out, find yourself a good skipper/charter and you're sorted.

had a look at the website, seems to be some good catches but the question i always ask myself about skippers websites is just how long did it take to put the gallery together (is that all the decnet fish from the last 4years). Also maybe someone could tell me just how stable would a rib be in any sort of a choppy sea

Have a look at the June edition of Sea Angler - there is a complete article on Predator.

the boat is very very stable. :D
its not ideal if there are a lot of anglers onboard though room wise. at best 8 maximum.

the pictures have been gathered over a few years but i can vouch that hamish works hard for his customers. sometimes he's a bit rough and ready with people but the guy's an angler first so if its crap he knows it.
if your looking for polished customer care wrong guy but if you want a chance of a specimen fish right guy.

shark fin soup wouldn't be in it :evil: :evil: :evil: personally i wouldn't fish with the guy ,but thats just my opinion .

I've seen him brining 3-4lb spurdog ashore with dorsals removed ,plus doggies supposedly for skate bait ,not that i have a problem with keeping fish for bait ,but spurs aren't that common ,a few other things that i've heard about but haven't seen for myself (you need to be aboard) but obviosly iona knows about :x :evil: :?
Also been a few incidents reported to M.C.A.(COASTGUARD) regarding dangerous antics towards other boat users whilst they fish "his marks"

Good for making fast headway but with only a tube for freeboard not a good fishing boat in a choppy sea

Read the article in June Sea Angler. Six top anglers including English and Scottish Internationals had two days with him, only fish shown was a dogfish. They had no wreck fishing, not surprised when his nearest wreck is "90 minutes away." (45 miles?) Imagine sitting on a high speed inflatable for three hours to fish a wreck. Little wonder his first stop is usually the salmon cages for coalfish. I have yet to meet anyone who has fished with him more than once! Good Luck! I look forward to your report.
