Fished on until 3 am before exhaustion and sore feet got the better of me. Was wearing a new pair of waders i bought in Landers in Tralee for the first time. Stupidly i didn't try them on as an 8 (42) always fits. Well these are more like a 6 so by 3 am i was in agony.
I got another 3 bass, another 3lbish and the other two 1-1.5 lbs. Viper i think got another 3 small bass, he left shortly before me.
Got the head down in the car for a few hours and of course slept in and missed the dawn, but i tried near Arts rough ground mark for about 30 mins at just about high tide, but i had decided i couldn't bear the waders again so wearing my shoes i couldn't really get to the spots that looked good.
Waders are going free to a good home. Maybe fit a seven but safer a six with thick shocks.

1 small flounder, whiting and codling. Sounds like the results of a competition on the east coast. The fishing is so wonderful in Waterford. I hope that the netsmen do not destroy it like they did the east coast. I would have severe worries about the fishermen removing the crabs form around the coast as they are at the moment in Ferrypoint and Youghal. "If there is no food in the restaurant why go there." The fishing in this area was brutal this year because the food at the bottom of the chain was being removed. Hopefully this will not occur around Dungarvan.
I used to fish Greystones in the 70's. The cod fishing was brilliant. The the boats from Wexford arrived and dug up the mussel beds. The result was that the cod and plaice disappeared. Did anybody stop this? Not at all. It was obvious what the consequences would be.
It disturbs me deeply to see this kind of action being allowed by the fisheries boards to continue.
Now that the election time is here it might be worth bringing this up with local politicians.

Not much to report in the end, stayed until about 2.30 with only a small coalie and a dogfish to keep me company. Lovely night though, it's amazing how the full moon warms up the place when it makes an appearence!
Anyways nice couple of days in Dungarvan, with the final results :- 12 bass, 7 flounder, 1 doggie, 1 coalfish and a nice big ding on the back of my new car courtesy of a Dunnes Stores Delivery van!
