Port Muck, Bangor to Donaghadee 02/05/07 -03/05/07

#1 Post by drewk »

People: Me and the wife

Duration:Most of the day and early the next

Tide:Up and down and back up again

Weather:Perfect (thats why the wife came)

Bait:rag

Rigs: Vaious

Results: Ballan Wrasse*15, Corkwing Wrasse*9, Goldshinney Wrasse*5, Red Cod*1, Pollock*4 and Bullhead Sea Scorpion*1

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: Had a few days off work so I decided to wet my line along the coast. The wife came along for moral support and a bit of a tan. Picked up the rag from Larne and headed for Port Muck to break my Wrasse duck for this year. 8 small ones where landed Ballan & Corkwing) all under 1/2 lb. Had tea and went to Donaghadee pier for the evening and had great sport with most of what you see above including two to just over 1lb (one had a big chunk out of it, see pic). Called it a night and tried again in Bangor during the early hours. Caugh a few more Wrasse and the Red Cod before moving on to the Dee again as I was meeting a mate for coffee. A few more wrasse and a PB Ballan to 2.5lb's - 36cm. Marathon session but great fun and the wife even had a laugh.

Sorry mate but I was there this morning at 6.30 for a couple of hours. Would have liked to have met you. That was my first time fishing there, lots of possibilities around the piers, I nearly don't know where to start. Must give it a shot again.
