People:me and fishinmidget

Duration:5pm-10pm

Tide:high at 18:37

Weather:clear hot with light ESE breeze

Bait:mack

Rigs:various

Results:1 flounder.. and one 3"sandeel

Catch and Release:: Yes and No

Report:
seeing as i had nothing better to do :D i sent midget a txt and met up for a bit of fishin.. on the way to the mark midget clambered down rocks and attempted to catch a few mullet on the fly that were mulling around a small area.. none were interested and midget now need a tip ring for his fly rod   .. continued to the mark and set up.. i let midget use.. no not the zzippy, but my spinning rod with a 2 hook boom rig and 2oz lead (deadly setup for flattie bashing).. i proceeded to catch a flounder on the first cast.. line went slack and then there was i nice little knock.. actually thought it was a doggie to begin with.. the greedy begger took 2 of the 3 size 2 hooks and took a little persuading to get the deeper hook out.. but without much ado it was released and swam away happily.. i took a few moments to look around at the beautiful scenery (salthill prom during hot weather... there is plenty of beautiful scenery :D ).. midget decided to try his hand at spinning with my 11' rod and abu6500 and managed to foul hook a sandeel.. which i promptly grabbed off him and attached to the bottom hook of my 3 hook boom scratcher... :) .. after this nothing much to report except plenty of wildlife about.. all them birds :D :D :D :D

finished up around 10ish and hinted to midget that my zzippy was set up for casting... it took a few attempts before he realised what i meant..
his dream came true   (guess who will be soon a member of the zzippy club)

You be sure and count that sandeel in your 07 species list midget  . If its good enough for top shore anglers like McG then you may rest assured its good enough for the rest of us mere mortals.....

Ah the joys of the warm weather.... Makes a man glad to be alive :D Nice one Steve for finally letting midget have a go with the Zippy. He'll appreciate it even more after that lengthy wait
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

Tell us this, would it be safe enough to fish off that promenade on a Friday night?

Meaning, would there be hoards of drunken f****ers floating around?

it is relatively safe, nost of the drunken people mill around town or in salthill its self but not so many further up the prom.. AFAIK fishinmidget and chrisfeeney30 will be fishing there on friday evening.. send midget a pm if you want to meet up... as i wont be around for the weekend

I still dont know if I'm going down or not. Supposed to be going down for the Galway and Derry City match tomorrow night and a few friends are taking the camper van down and staying in Slathill. I'd say they'll be out on the town on Fri night though, but I'd be happy enough to stay in Salthill fishing. I'm off to Italy on Tuesday and kinda need all my money for that...

What time will u be fishing at on Friday fishinmidget? It'll proabably be after 10pm by the time I get back from Terryland Park out to Salthill

shamrock - they always hold the away fans back in terryland - so id say youd be doing well to get down there for 10.30 to salthill

this one should be near a sell out as well id say
