Saw Gannets diving about 300yards off shore! Anybody know what they might be diving for? Sandeels or something bigger...

The birds

A friend and me were at Ballydavid last week and saw them diving and thought that they were after sandeels, but as we were looking down at some dead fish that were on the bottom along the pier, some sandeels came past and tight on their tails were about 75/100 macks and big ones at that, they were right in along the peir in no more than 15ft od water.

Yeah sure I was fishing Newcastle a while back and birds were dropping right in front of us about 10 foot out! No wonder I caught nothing that day, damn birds were scaring all the fish away
