iv had fish in december and january do the same so im not sure about the dates for the ban, i def agree the ban should be inplace, but im not sure if its at the right time, (il prob be shot for this) but i think it should be even longer say all of may and all of june to give them a propper chance. any of the bass iv caught just after spawing were so knackered that they could hardly move never mind put up a fight.
may to june is prob the peak spawning time but u will catch others spawning far earlier and later

There definetly is something in what your saying Paul, i don't know the full story or how it was decided that the 15th of May to the 15th of June was decided as being the optimum spawning period

I'm sure the factors that influence the spawning of any species have been mentioned before. It sounds only logical that things like temperature will have a strong impact on the spawning times. We've all recently heard of the unsual April we've had. Someone has written about the unusually early arrival of mackerel. Perhaps bass are spawning earlier this year too. Lengthening the ban period will most problably have a beneficial effect but perhaps the timing should be studied on a year per year basis first as to make it more efficient? What do you guys think?

What's the date of the bass ban?
The bass ban runs from the 15th May to the 15th June. Is that inclusive of these dates? In other words can you fish on the 15th of May, or June?

I think my interpretation was wrong  The practice in other regulated fisheriesseems to be that the dates are inclusive.
