social gathering? i aint joking there, i have seen mullet just mulling around just waiting for somthing to happen or the tide to turn or somthing like that.

if you are determined to go for them keep at it with the bread. eventually you will get one hungrey mullet willing to take it

A cavity block and a second man at Sullivans Quay bridge with a landing net   :x

The warm weather and the lack of oxygen in the water will keep them shoaling on the surface. I think their more interested in surviving than eating. Try early morning or around dusk.

Is that Fisherman's Wharf apartments James?? I lived there for a year once - the mullet shoals were amazing, some great specimens. Never fished for them although I did try for the slob trout, without much success. Once watched a pike in the reeds 4 feet below me while eating my cornflakes :D

ps if you havea ground floor apartment don't leave your rod out on the balcony.... had mine nicked there

that would soo cool.
You could watch TV AND go fishing at the same time

Heaven.

Ahem!
Mullet. apparently from what I have read if you put bread out there for about 7 days the mullet will get used to it and see it as a food source and then take it.

the best way to get them feeding is to make rubby dubby mash a few loafs of bread and a few smelly mackerel and some codliver oil.you can do it two ways trough it in or i find a net bag lets it out over a longer time and dont get washed away.then is the hard part hooking them use mackerel or bread.
good luck

Plenty of slob trout there too James. Used to watch the locals fish for them with cheese ( ) from the other side, before the car park was built... real classy guys alright, watched one of em bite a fish's head off one time cos it swallowed the hook. Sick...

Bradan I'm sorry but I laughed out loud in the office when I read that last bit!

All I can think of is Gollum from LOTR running around Cork city attacking mullet

a slob trout is a brown trout that lives in esturarine waters, doesnt go to sea and turn silver like a sea trout, nor does it stay in freshwater like a brown trout proper.

If you can imagine Gollum with a fishing rod, a Cork accent, and a can of Dutch Gold, then you're not far off......

Well lets just say it wasn't exactly a Montenotte accent..... and unless you like emulating Ozzy Osbourne I'd be fairly sure it wasn't you!!
