LED Lenser Headfire Duplex http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_8&products_id=101457
It's really small and light, but quite powerful. The smaller light is bright enough for walking about, baiting up, etc.

i have one (cant remember the name of it) but it allows me to switch beteen a power beam with a 75m beam and a wider beam that illuminates the entire area you are in, great for working on baits and rigs in the dark.
my advice is to spend a decent bit of money on one, about 100euro or so as it pays for itself in the long run, i used those crap LED ones which i thought were ok til i got this one and the difference is enormous. i can see where my lead lands (if i dont cast too far) and i can see my fish being played in the surf, neither of which i could do in the past. im completely reformed to this type of lamp and would never go back

Got a Silva L1, super headlamp. It has a 3 watt luxeon LED bulb, 3 intensities and you can switch from a waist mounted battery pack or one that sits on the strap. Battery life from the waist pack is enormous. I change mine maybe once every 6-8 weeks or so fishing steadily. Cost about a ton but seriously well worth it. It takes standard batteries so no worries about charging it or anything like that. Highly recommend.

Is there not a disadvantage to using large headlamps shining out to sea? Are you not gonna spook fish? I see Paul there is talking about seeing where his lead lands, is that not overkill? I use the LED ones and try to have it switched off when I'm down casting or retrieving unless I absolutely have to have it on.
Am I wrong? Does it not matter what light "pollution" you're beaming out to sea?

eoin,
i really dont think it makes that much difference, you are still talking about a really really small amount of light going a fair distance from the shore, if the water is deep or dirty your light wont get to the bottom. i do see your point though if you are fishing in very close in gin clear shallow water, but other than that i dont really think it makes that much difference

have a lenser led and its fine for fishing takes 3 aaa batteries and is as light as a feather 40 yo yos one thing to remember with ones that take batteries is rechargable ones will last at least 4 times longer than alkaline ones i carry two spare sets and 3 headlamps one is just a small led one for on the rod rest or changing a set in the better headlamps i also wrap freshly charged ones in cling film to stop them getting mixed up with wasted ones or earthing off anything else in the tackle box
a red led is usefull for commando fishing it wont spook fish and when u turn it off your night vision is intact( ie your pupils do not need to dialate unnecessarily  )
