People:Me
Duration:4 hours
Tide:2 hours either side of high
Weather:Sunny
Bait:Jointer Thunderstick, Chug bug, various minnows and spinners.
Rigs:11 Foot Shakespeare XL spin with Shimano Cardiff Multi loaded with 12lb Trilene.
Results:Zip, Nada, Nichts, Niente.
Report:Thought I'd get out and enjoy the weather and test out my new multi spinning reel down around poolbeg and the South wall and see if there were any bass out there willing to take a lure. I walked the rocks from the Half Moon to the lighthouse plugging then changed to a spinner when up at the lighthouse to sound out mackerel as there were terns diving for whitebait, but nothing.
Still a bit early it would seem, I meet two other guys who had been trying for mullet at the power station outlet, but they had no joy with that and were going to try some lure fishing too.
I gave the edge of the nature reserve a quick bash on the way back too, but no joy there either.
All and all nice weather but no fish about it would seem.

How ya doing, myself and brother were the other two guys.
Same experience  ,
Tried for the mullet... No joy. Saw one jump but that was it. No action in close. That was with the ground baiting bucket out too. (Mackerel and bread mix) but nothing. Went spinning then up as far as white rock, nada. Wedges, Toby’s, chug-bugs, plugs all thrown around to no avail..
But such is estuary fishing, not sure about the state of the tide to fish that place :? .
Might need to be low water the fish to drop out of the surrounding estuaries :?: But could be wrong.
As for the bass… lots of bait fish around though. Huge shoals of sand eel around river side of the wall
all the best

Fished Dollymount last Saturday morning from 6.00 am until 11.00,high tide was 9.15 am.When I arrived there was a great surf and conditions looked perfect.Had one rod out with crab, rag and mackerel and I was spinning aswell with another.Nothing at all happening, will be back though to try again.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

I think it's a high tide mark, apart from anything else, access to the water and hooked fish is a bitch at low.
