Spinning Line

I was just wondering what is the best line for spinning using lures. I normally use 9lb.

I use 20lb PowerPro braid.

Same as teacher. I've also started using 3-4ft of mono as a leader.

Are ye spinning with multis or FS?
I recently got myself a Shimano Cardiff for lure fishing and am using 12lb Berkley on it, it's nice enough, want to get to the stage of control with multis where I am able to spin with braid, should take a little while yet, was just wondering what you guys are using?

Multi/Baitcaster, Daiwa Alphas 103 & Abu Black Max 6500 with 15lb braided.

shimano baitrunner and 20lb berkley wiplash pro, even use it when float fishing.

IMHO, its a lot more easier using braided with multi for spinning.Braided and mono are totally diffrent when wet.One with memory and have not much diffrent either wet or dry, and the braid more limp,no memory and easier to control when wet.Even in windy condition i never have a problem with braid,either a bird nest or wind knot,the key is always in control with ur thumb and stop and slowdown the spool in the right time.After some time u'll get used to it and manage to stop the spool automatically even when blind folded,and u'll find out that braided is easier to control.

naw, when you hit a snag and tighten down the braid beds inot itself, on a multiplier when you cast again birdie,however with a fixed spool no other it just doesnt go as far as it should. :lol:

The things only happened to ppl that do not know how to use and take care of their tools mate.Rod and reel not intended to be use to pull on snag.The braid digging in the spool not only happened to multi,its even dig in the fs if it use to pull on snag.The only things that can be done if u got snagged is to wrap ur braided to a pc of stick or use a rag to protect ur hand and pull.Keep on using ur rod and reel like that and it wont be long when u know that its start wobling,bent a shaft etc.Its more frustating when its fail while fighting a trophy fish of the life time.No offence mate just my 2 cent.Cheeerrs...

i dont use the rod or the reel to pull out a snag as i have seen one boy do and pop the spool of his reel, he shall remain nameless :lol: but if you hit a snag and then free it. the baid has still beded in slightly and you can sometimes forget about it and then cast again with out checking it. i actually carry a gardening glove when spinnign for that reason of freeing the braid from snags, even with the glove you still have to be careful

Dont know with other...but seriously i never had that problem.If u do it right the line wont dig.The way that i know that most ppl too lazy to do it properly.They just grab the line in front of the spool and pull it.For me,i just let an extra line out and pull that extra length from the tip,so that there will be no tension to the spool even if my grip slip, and there will be no line digging.Other than that, for FS if the line lay/oscilation is not design for braid and un even the line tend to dig itself even without getting the snag.Theres a lot of things to consider.....the shape of ur braid.....flat braid tend to easily dig....but not to the rounder braid.Flat or round is depend on the strand of the braid.How u fill ur spool with braid also count.Its not like filling mono line unless ur spool have a tie point in it,if not the braid will slip in spool an and the line can easily dig in and the worst case is a birdnest on fs when a bunch of misalign(due to slipage)braid tried to get out of your spool on the cast.Just my 2 cent....cheerss....
