you can get preserved rag in Freeney's on high street in Galway... never tried the stuff though..
there are a few lug beds around Galway if you are willing to dig for them, and there are a couple of spots where you can dig white rag and one spot where you can dig maddies..
you have to travel further up the coast to dig rag worm (not sure where though)

Bait in Galway / Limerick
Thanks guys. Anyone tried the 'Gulp' baits? The write up I saw seemed to say they were good, but as usual the proof is in the pudding.

No Fresh lug is sold in the tackle shops in limerick. I heard of the John in limerick angling center ordering in rag and peeler during the summer but I don't know how regularly or does he still do it. Frozen black wraps are occasionaly available at 9:50 a pop but the last lot I bought had more sand tail than lug. The best bet for fresh lug is to dig it but rag (with the exception of small whites) on the west coast is as rare as hens teeth with very few locations where they are dug.
My question would be what are you after and where are you intending to fish. I don't bother with worm for the summer months as mackerel, sand eel and squid get all the fish I'd be after on the west coast. The only thing I'd make an exception for would be wrasse with hardbacks being the bait of choice and lures for pollack and bass.
