Spinning rod

Hey lads,
Looking to get a new spinning rod, something that can cast light to medium sized lures for bass fishing (maybe piking too :roll: )
I'm looking for something that costs around 60-70pound..any suggestions?

If ur were goin to fork out just a few more quid man...u could get the Penn 2xs Spinning rod... lovely rod and very nice finish on it....can flick lure a long way and has the backbone to hold on2 decent fish!! its 10ft and can cast 60 gr which is 2 odd ounces

I bought a Shakesphere Salt 10ft spining rod, its a cracking wee rod, will cast light lures and it will cast a 3oz lead with not much bother, seems to work best 1-2oz can almost empty the wee bait caster with a 2oz lead lol.

Should be well within your budget too
species so far 2007 (18....)
Conger, Codling, Coalfish, Shore Rockling, Dab, Flounder, Dogfish, 3 beard rocking, Pollack, Whiting, Pouting, Red cod, Poor Cod, Tadpole fish, Short and Long splined sea sculpin, TopKnot, Cukcoo Ray,

Targets: fish over 10lb, eel over 20lb (came VERY close almost :( )

Cheers for the replies lads..was actually looking at the shakespeare salt myself seems like a nice little rod :)

Dave do you know anywhere online that stocks the Penn 2xs? I was looking at the Penn Powerstix spin rod here http://www.gerrysfishing.com/shop_detai ... 92&tabID=1
but would like to have a look at that rod too :)

I think i have found the rod for me! the mike ladle surespin seems to be a nice enough rod :) anyone have any experience with these?

Don't rule out the GREYS range of spinning rods. They are crackers and are coming down in price too..........Gerrys of Morecombe seem to have a good price in the mags now.

I agree with that.Got one myself and they are fantastic,I was also looking at one of those Mike Ladle rods,which everyone says are great and Im sure they are but decided to go with the Greys as I have a few of their rods and have no complaints.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

Cheers lads will have a look at the Greys rods!
I think the Greys rods have a heavier casting weight than the Mike ladle rods... Do you think that they would struggle casting a light lure like a mepps?

i use a fox piker multispin 9ft6in casts 20-60grms very nice action and great fun for playinf fish comes with a hard rod tube too

I have the greys seaspin that has a throwing weight of between 30-90grms. It would definately not throw anything fairly small but it has the stopping power to stop a crash diving pollock or bass etc. A light rod could struggle to stop a fair size pollock from diving into the weed etc.

al, i was goin for the surespin until i found the penn rod...greys rods aref ine too.... i reckon the surespin will handle the pollock just fine...cause thats what i would have been usin it for...

I just bought a daiwa wilderness 10ft spinning rod.
Bit dearer I know at 130euro but a nice bit of kit. Comes with a travel tube also.

Its actually not too much dearer only about 12 euro when its converted! I actually never heard of the daiwa wilderness..ah well i think this one will suit me perfect for both my fresh & saltwater fishing :)
