Weather:overcast and warm

Bait:mackerel strip

Rigs:3 hook pat

Results:zero

Catch and Release:: nothing to release

Report:i wouldn't usually bother putting up a blank report but as i mentioned to a few people that i was going out in search of dogs i thought i'd let u know it didn't go to plan. i wish somebody out there could explain to me why this mark seems to only fish in summer?? i catch good codling from here in the height of the summer but not a sniff in winter. is there just some marks that only fish in summer?? i did notice the bird activity out in the horizon, it reminded me of when they r attacking fry and sandeel so maybe when they come closer to shore this mark will start to fish. definitely leaving it for a good month or so anyway.

The Terns are knocking the Herring Fry up and down the Coast Rab, at my BANGOR mark you could watch the Shoals of Herring fry swimming by... Its weird being April and seeing so much activity in, and round the water.

They've started picking up Macks off the Copelands on boats, only a matter of weeks.

I believe a few mackerel have been taken in Dun Laoghaire already, according to Alan Prosser anyway.

Bad luck Rab, I went to greys point again today and its just as bad, not a bite. But i did see a shoal of about 8 fish swim past me right under my feet, but nothing taking the bait or spinners i used.. not sure what type of fish they were, but guess they were about 8 inches long..

thats another mark that only fishes well in the height of the summer. i'd love to know why it goes dead in winter. did anyone else get pestered by thousands of black flies today?? buggers were everywhere, loads of them drowning on the waters surface. maybe should have brought the fly rod coz something is gonna feed on the thousands of them on the surface.

Fished Orlock a few weeks back and like yourself not a nibble. I've heard that some large Mack where caught by a boat of Portmuck Island last week so their about OK. I guess we all have to play the waiting game.

fished greys point two sundays ago for a few hours with only a starfish landed. (squid baited feathers 3rd hook up)
didn't realise they were predators!
got a decent bite on the second cast of a two hook flapper but snagged it an broke off on the way in.
then a big seal appeared from where I broke off.
won't go back for a month or two yet.
tight lines
