Long Rod for long traces?
I'm looking for a long rod for long traces. I don't want it for distance casting its for flatties in the surf. So I'd discount the likes of the K2 as it seems to be more for distance. I won't be buying till after the summer at least as I don't have the money but I'd like to know what to look out for. The grauvel HM 4500/4200 caught my eye but the tecknos range have taken over. The tecknos seem to be aimed at distance. The new Anyfish Anywhere long rig is now the prefered choice. Anyone tried it yet or have any suggestions?

Donagh,
I have the Grauvell 4500 here if you would like to try it. Missed the last Shannon SAC competition at Inch but am hoping to make the next one in the Cashen, will bring along the rod for you.
I bought it with 2 tips, the standard and match all in €200. To be honest distance wise it still doesn't even come close to a standard fishing pendulum for me. I use it for flatties in the surf and estuaries. One thing it is brilliant for is casting soft baits such as maddies when you do need that extra bit of distance, it's lovely and soft and doesn't blow them to pieces.

i use a greys triplex 16foot. its a fantastic rod, u can spot a tiny tiny fish bites on it or use it to pull in decent bass (up to specimen weight). Fantastic rod for medium range casting, i 4 oz lead a a very gently flick and you putting perfect delecate baits out to 100m easily. also perfect for a surf beach as the extra length keeps your line above the waves

K2 blue metal- for casting soft baits a long way. ideal for light lines and long traces. triplex is favoured by some top anglers and is a nice rod. however the blue metal is a great rod and half the price of the tripplex. personally i prefer the blue metal. it will cast silly distances easily but for close range lobbing it is almost perfect. if it had a glass tip it would be the absolute biz... blue metal will not disappiont and for the price its a steal :D
