Report:
We headed up to Red Bay for the third club comp of the year. It was a great day for fishing - I haven't caught that many fish since last September!!!!

First cast was at distance but resulted in nothing, changed tactics for second cast and lobbed 3 mussel baits just beyond the kelp on a boom rig. Within 5 mins the rod was bouncing with a wrasse and pollack devouring the mussels.

Managed to to lose that rig on the next cast so I humped out a lump of mackeral on a pulley in the vain hope of a doggie..... no joy.

Some quick shortening of snoods saw me get another boom rig sorted and it was baited up with mussel again, back to the same area as where the wrasse came from - within 5 mins, a nice coalie had the rod bouncing - HAPPY DAYS......

The baited rigs slowed down after this, so with the light beginning to fade, I switched over to lures on a spinning rod with 30lb braid - that had to be the most enjoyable hour of fishing I have had in a long time.... the coalies and pollack provided great sport. I managed to land 7 and lost about the same again.

When it got dark - the doggie hunt continued but there were no woofers around :(

I finshed up 4th in the club comp - well happy and I managed to finally put some points on the board.

Great to get landing some fish again...
