People: Myself, Drew

Duration: 2 Hours ish

Tide: Full Flood

Weather: Calm, fantastic but did get a bit cool

Bait: Rag / Mack

Rigs: scratchers

Results: Myself:- Corkwing Wrasse x1, Three Bearded Rockling x3, Coalfish x1, Pouting x1 Drew:- Codling, Pollack, Rockling, Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing Wrasse

Catch and Release:: Yes/No



Report:

Just glad to report that my mini blanking period is over again, thank feck for that. I also caught 2 species that i'd never got before, the Three Bearded Rockling and the Corkwing! I'm pretty sure it's a Corkwing anyway, not the best picture in the world but i'll attach a pic for you to look at and confirm.

Yep, looks like a Corkwing. The elongated beak is the usual give-away

I went mostly by the pattern / stripes on its head, wrasse are too bloody similar at times! Must do some more research!

The only thig about that is that a lot of fish tend to take on the colour of the environment they are living in. I have caught ballan wrasse for example in Inishowen which have been almost grey in colour and also caught ones a very bright, vivid red colour down in Donegal Bay.

Even stripes/spots on fish can be affected by the territory it lives in.

Physical features are a much more accurate way of differentiating between species in my opinion.

I've never seen him move so fast to get rebaited and back in the water... Funny to watch... :lol:
