I came across this range of tackle early last year, and approached dave in southside angling
to see if he could stock it

its called

hiro

it has all the little bits and bobs for your rig building

its the muts

It's just a new name on the market. Anything to con the sea angler, give them a few months and wait for the reports to come back.

Maybe they might sponsor a competition

Hiro is not that new, perhaps over here and in the UK.

The company is Portuguese and to my knowledge the owner is one of the Portuguese International Boat Anglers....I would always trust a company owned by an angler with a reputation to keep.

I've seen most if not all that they offer, some I would use and bits I wouldn't, but I do think its gear that has a place and not just a gimmick.

Not mad about it. Most of their bits are ok but I would reach for the Mustad gear before it every time. I had problems with the hooks on some of their rigs at the weekend, bending out of wrasse and pollack. Not what you need mid comp and I wont be using them again.

bought some of their swivels and hooks (meat hooks) and they seem extremely good, meat hooks have better penetration than cox and rawle.apparently some of their rods are pretty good.

have been using their beads etc for ages now, very impressed with the stuff, the gear is made by anglers to catch fish not anglers. their hooks are a soft pattern so i personally wouldnt use them in a boat comp ( im guess ing petekd wont either again :lol: :wink: ). As mickeyfish said its their rig building bits and bobs that are truely great

I'd agree with Paul here, I made a conscious decision to improve my scratching techniques and find the hiro beads good, with the close in rod often having a better catch rate when using the beads.

Des O'Neill in Hayes' Cycles, Wexford has a display on the shop floor if any of ye down there want to check them out.

i also get mine from southside, very reasonably priced at 1.40 a pack, iv seen this stuff going for over 2euro a pack

as my family from spain i have used the kit (rods) the team that make the stuff are the old diawa europe team i was told.

the boat rods are as good as it gets designed by rui comes 2 times world champ so top stuff.

as for beach rods in my view not as good only cat the new basic one and found it not up to much. contact my mate joes costa of the forum he is from porto and used these for years.

i would use the boat rods and stick to a good spanish company grauvell ( a pok at costa lol)

They also do beach-rods, mainly three peice, very expensive
400 quid for their top rods, north west angling centre
stocks them.

i used hiro rig bits and hooks...they are pretty gud.. most of the stuff anyway. not 2 expensive either!
