missing an eye

#1 Post by Kraken »

Hey all,
I got a present of a penn special senator rod 30-50lb class but its missing an eyering (rest of the support still intact) -

My questions are

1. Can I get a replacement eye and

2. Is it ok to just solder it on

cheers,

john.

most decent tackle shops should be able to replace an eye for you in minutes, usually only costs about a fiver

John,
Is the eye missing from the blank?

If so check your local tackle dealer, they may do rod repairs and may whip a new eye on for you. Where are you based?

There are a few options down Cork way.

dont try to solder it, the best way to replace an eye is whipping it on then supporting it with glue, as paul said it would only cost €5 in most tackle shops

it depends on what eye it is if your goin to soldier on !! . tip eyes are the easiest eyes to repair and therefore the cheapest !! but if it is any other eye the varnish will need to be stripped down and rewhipped !! could cost up to 20euro depending on the job !! but if you know how to DIY it , ! it wont cost that much !!

Cheers Lads,

Think I'll leave it to the pros to sort

Dont think i'd be up to it and dont want to ruin the rod
