help on slecting a rod please

#1 Post by nickcamp24 »

I am coming back over there again in June and was hoping to bring over a decent rod this time, not just borrow rods. i was thinking of bring a Breakaway 13' LDX Longcasting Rod Rated for 15-25lb, 3-5oz and a pen 525 mag. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!

The LDX or even the HDX should fit right in here. Loading your 525 with 15lb line is spot on.

Good luck,

Tom.

Mabey a bit light if you want to go for the huss nick. i would say the lenth is right, around 12/13 feet but i would reccomend somthing rated to 6-7oz. i would suggest a rod but i dont know what you can or cant get in the states. reel is spot on though.

Hi Nick,

you could do worse than this rod - http://www.gerrysfishing.com/shop_detai ... uctID=7061

I bought ine last year for a trip to France. I still use it regularly on the beaches. It throws 4 - 8 oz and is surprisingly strong for such a slim blank.

he does have a point..

and dont worry about bringing a light rod... nothing better than getting huss on a light rod :D

and as Rockhopper said, load with 15lbs line and you'll be sorted for nearly all types of fishing around here...

If I picked Nick up right, the LDX he speaks of is the one marketed by Nick Meyers in Texas...the boys down there in the Gulf are landing pretty big fish on them, that rod would be more than a match for Huss or Tope even IMHO.

yep thats the rod i was talking about. I just wan't to run it by you guys before i went out and spent the money on it. I was acually worried that i wouldn't be able to feel small bites on it.
