I hope they make it around to us down south. I would like some fresh bait for a change. I wouldn't mind taking my young fella out with a chance of catching them either.

Was on an early morning stint for bass this morning outside Cork Harbour. On the way back in there were huge flocks on gulls going crazy between the forts and also behind Spike. Looked to me like mackeral shoals but as I only had a bass setup I had no feathers to give a try. The usual pod of dolphins were also in the same spot and looked like they were trying to corral fish.

It was a good day I also heard there is plenty of them shoaling at the moment mostly the larger fish but a guy there told me he catches them at dunlicky during dec i believe him too as the ray are in clare and limerick all year round so what stops the mackerel being around you can catch mackerel anytime of year at valentia too
