fished off rocks till tide nearly in nothing doing there so went down halfway on beach had two rods one in close the other about 60 yds out a couple of bites then landed a small turbot .got a good bite as two walkers approached and started talking as i landed a nice sea trout 38cm the other rod was hoppin at the same time when i reeled it in bait and hook gone (v.clean ground ?) got flounder 34 cm later on . first time out this year a beautiful day and a nice catch those walkers distracted me so i will never know what was on the other rod still i went home very happy.

I was on the pier and blanked but I saw you!
Sounds like you had better luck than me, gotta try the beach one of these days!

sea trout at lacken
Hi
I am reliably informed that the beach fishes best at LOW water, with sandeel the best bait. Lots of sea trout at the mouth of the small river, the other option is to fish off the flags on the kilcummin side. There is one hotspot for small pollack and right out on Benwee head if you like really foul ground, below a small hut, there is a deep pool with small ling... but it is a hairy place on a rising tide. Nice to see a turbot... if I have an itch I can't scratch on Friday I might head out that direction.
Anyone interested in a meet?

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Well, went down today, had two English fellers next to me ( father and son, I'd say ) and while they blanked I got a few nice Pollock, including this one. Please excuse the quality of the pic but my camera has difficulties against the light...
