When in Kerry?

#1 Post by fish4fun »

Looking to come back for a week in The Kingdom around 29/08 for some sport. Hope it's better than last time but can anyone suggest the very best time of year if you had a choice.

Looks like we'll stay in Dingle with a night out in Tralee :D

that is about right august september time seems to be pretty good for fishing although i would say that winds around that time tend to be unpredictable so surf fishing for bass might not be on the cards so try for a specimen wrasse on the dingle peninsula or some big pollock off the rocks and ray in tralee bay.

Depends what your after. August a good time of year for a lot of species. Personally would always try and head down around May/June for a chance at the big tope and stingers.
I require a tremendous amount of calcium

Cheers for the replies. Last there begining of September 2005 when the 'red tide' was about and found it a bit disappointing. Will be looking for a bit of allsorts, ray and huss, pollack and wrasse from the rocks as well as surf for bass.
Stayed in Tralee last time so thinking Dingle will cut down a lot of travelling as we seemed to be heading back around that area most days anyway.

if you are staying in Dingle you have to try the restaurant 'into the blue' its supposed to be fantastic you cannot book and there is no fixed menu they cook what is fresh on the day.
