Beal Strand, Kerry, Shannon Estuary SAC
People: 8 anglers shannon Estuary SAC
Duration: 3:10pm till 7.10pm
Tide:Low at 5pm
Weather: Started with cold NE turning mild in the end.
Bait: Fish baits, lug, crab
Rigs:Various
Results:
Gearoid won with a 42cm wing span ray
David O' sullivan came second with a 30cm flounder
Estuary Lad came third with a flat (don't know the size) but no prize
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report:Fishing was desperately poor with half the anglers blanking. Flats were caught close in with the ray at range. I fished various 3 hook rigs with mainly size 2 hooks and hadn't a tap. This place just turned bad in the last few weeks which was unfortunate. Well done to gearoid on winning the first ever competition he was in and the inaurgaral shannon estuary SAC competition.

Well done to gearoid, David and estuary lad for catching on such a poor day. The fishing was very poor on the day with a cold NE wind blowing. Always fishes bad on a north easterly.

The club was started up this year by John so that their would be club fishing this side of the Estuary. Fair dues to John becuase hes put a good deal of effort and money into starting club. It isn't in the IFSA so you'd have to join to be insured but I think the plan is to join in the furture. Theirs a fair number of comps in north kerry so it would be well worth joining.
Liam. Was that you in the white van?

Due to the club being not in the ifsa you will have to pay 30e to join the club for insurance purposes. Entry fee to matches is 15e and longest flat and round are 2.50e each. Cash for prizes.
Email John and he'll send you on the fixture list and rules.

Hi Donagh,yeah thats right {white van} .We went to fenit after for a few hours but poor there too.Was it a pegged comp or a rambler? Not in a club at the moment used to be in club E.S.B but now disbanded havn,t fished a comp for years but thinking about a club again,live near Tralee so north kerry comps would be great, deffo think about it,fished few marks on the estuary before had some nice fish like to get back more often but works a curse , anyway thanks 4 the info good luck
