Bass Season Start - What are the Indicators?
Looking through the posts from last year and my own experience it would seem that the Bass season doesn't really start kicking in until around mid-April (in around Cork at least). So that got me wondering... What are the main things people look out for to indicate that Bass should be around in numbers? Is it just about sea temperature or are there other indicators?

the next 6 months are deff. better that the last 6, that i think is due to sea temp. and more favorable weather/fishing conditions.
what i look for;
the first major crab molt,, if theres plenty of peelers,theres bass about.
the arrivel of terns in the bay, lots of terns=baitfish= bass
the arrivel of lots of mullet.
shrimp blooms, the staple diet of bass.
the above are directly linked to a rise in sea temps.
had twice as many bass in june alone last yr. , as in the 6 mts. from oct/march.

Bass
Things do bode well for the future as long as our black market friends don't destroy any benefits that global warming appears to be having. When you look at, If more Bass stay are over wintering in shore they must have a good enough food source and with warmer water comes more food therefore faster growing Bass. It is well known that Bass from the Bay of Biscay grow much quicker than Bass in our waters. These fish move up here in Summer following food and to breed. If things continue we should notice that we are getting bigger young Bass. I believe recent spawning data appears to be confirming this trend. It would be nice to see if the trend for Bream catches continues as this would definitely indicate warmer waters around our south coast. There may be other factors involved but I assume most are governed in some way by water temperature.
