Cranfield Point/ Newcastle Co Down

#1 Post by lazycod »

People:Me , Pookie , Round our way

Duration: 7 Hours

Tide:Full and ebb

Weather:Very bright and east north east wind

Bait:Frozen lug, rag , squid mack, herring

Rigs:portugal/ spain/croatia

Results: Me 1 dab (6cm)

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:

Decided to try somewhere new today and headed to the mouth of carlingford and fished cranfield point, the beach is a blue flag beach and looks like it would produce fish but probably needed a bit of surf the wind on the beach was a biting north easterly which made it very uncomfortable so we only fished it for an hour and decided to move round the corner to greencastle for a bit of shelter. we found this place to be very shallow and only fished it for an hour and a half both spots produced nothing not even a bite. With not a cloud in the sky and it being very bright we decide to move to deeper water and went to newcastle harbour to fish until dusk, after a few casting lessons from round our way :shock: I managed a huge cast of about 30 yds :lol: we fished on for about an hour and round our way had to go to the pictures so he headed home me and pookie fished on until last light a few bites later produced the only fish of the day a very small dab seems we only catch fish when Round our way goes home :? the crack was good fishing wasn't but all in all nice to get out..I found out why Pookie married a nurse :lol: :lol: :lol: seems to like hurting himself :P :lol:

It was cracking day with the sun out. pity about the fish.

I had to inform lazy that he wasnt actually casting 120 yards but only 30yards. With a little instruction we can get you up to that magic 50 yards matey. :D :D :D :lol: :lol:

good luck on sunday sir. If you have a cracking day like this your smiling pal.

Sorry i couldn't make it either. I eventually got out of work at 2.30 and headed down to the rocks for a couple of hours. Tried 2 marks and got 1 2-3lb pollack, so they are still not back inshore in numbers.
