Fixed spool reels

#1 Post by MARRCO7 »

Can anyone explain just why any fixed spool reel should cost over a hundred pounds, i Salmon fish too and some of the reels are dexpensive for it too but why, yes i know your told at the end of the day the drag etc is better and they have more ballbearings or a fancy name but do they really help you cast any further?

Easy answer is you only get what you pay for.....when you think of the amount of die cast parts that go into a fixed spool and the cost of having dies made, thats part of the answer....after that you need to count how many people earn profit from it....manufacturer....freight company...wholesaler...another freight company....retailer....thats the least...some will have more people involved before it gets to the end user.

Dont forget Mr Vat...21% is a stinger in itself
